Review by Simon (Again!) Our September Swapmeet, Sale day and BBQ was as usual as busy as ever with plenty of cool VW's to drool over, Beetles, Buses Type 3`s, 356’s and even a Trekker! The earliest cars there were an original paint '51 Split Bug on Porsche rims and a silver Porsche 356A that had a crowd around it most of the day. There was the usual show of the locals with their Split buses and Panel vans, the earliest Type 2 being a '51 Kombi (ex KK), not forgetting all the Bay windows that showed up, there was a great selection of nice original Westfalia’s, Panel Vans and a nice Pick Up. There was also a nice pair of black Karmann Ghia Kab’s, an early Bug Kab, and a good selection of very well turned out Bugs, something to cater for most peoples tastes. Jules and Andy were as busy as ever, giving big discounts on parts in the shop, there were bargains to be had outside too thanks to the people that had parts for sale in the swapmeet area outside the shop. Thanks also to Richard and Angela, they were kept busy serving food from the B-B-Q which always goes down well, there was a long queue all day! All the money that people kindly donated, just over £250, went to the Fair Havens Hospice as usual. Lastly, thanks to all the people who took part in our Roof Rack display, lots of people made the effort to load up their racks, the most interesting (and the only one left when we gave out the prize) was Ash with his Split Fire Truck complete with Park bench and Rabbits hutch, there was even talk of a real rabbit inside............... |
